Holistic Therapies

Holistic therapies involve a more whole approach of treating the person and consider physical and psychological needs rather than focusing solely on the symptoms of any illness.

The term psychosomatic is taken from two Greek words ‘psyche’ meaning mind & ‘soma’ meaning body, and is used to describe physical symptoms which are a direct result of a person’s mental or emotional state.

Stress and illness sometimes cause the body to be in a state of imbalance, stopping it from functioning effectively.

Holistic therapies can provide a sense of relaxation and increased well-being which can contribute positively to a person’s mental health.

First Visit:

At your first appointment a full medical history is taken to ensure that the appropriate treatment is offered to you.

You will be asked about any medication that you are taking to ensure that there are no contra-indications to the holistic therapy treatment being offered. All treatments are personalised to suit your particular needs and the pure essential oils being used are of the finest quality.

Holistic Therapy Aftercare Advice:

Avoid alcohol for at least three hours after treatment, to give the body chance to detoxify thoroughly.

Drink plenty of water, as the kidneys will be active in eliminating the toxins.

Do not bathe or shower for at least two hours after treatment, to allow the oils to be absorbed and begin detoxifying.

You may experience the feeling of tiredness and lethargy because of the release of toxins; have a suitable rest period after treatment.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is a holistic therapy using tailored blend of essential oils and can be used to enhance the well-being of the mind, body and spirit. There has been much research into the properties of essential oils, these can have a positive effect on mood and have been shown to affect brain wave activity producing either a stimulating or a relaxing effect. Essential oils can have calming, soothing, uplifting, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.

Aromatherapy is the use of aromatic (pleasant-smelling) essential oils which are extracted from plants such as flowers, leaves, roots or bark. It is thought that each oil has a different therapeutic property which can be used to improve health and well-being. Certain oils are historically linked to symptom relief for a wide variety of mental and emotional symptoms such as depression, anxiety and insomnia. Treatments naturally encourage the body’s release of endorphins (feel good chemicals) which helps relieve stress & anxiety and aid re-balancing of body, mind & emotions.
